Plastic greenhouses


Plastic greenhouses are produced using different types of plastic material; this product is preferred to glass or crystal, as it is much more resistant to hail, being much less fragile, and the cost is decidedly lower. Glass is today the most durable material in time, but the cost per square meter is decidedly greater than that of any plastic material and this certainly makes the plastic preferable to glass. The most typical structures are the tunnel ones, but with the different materials available on the market today it is possible to produce buildings of any shape and size, starting from the mini balcony or terrace greenhouses, to the large structures in which the nurseries or the extensive vegetable cultivation. Thanks to the famous greenhouse effect, the simple cover guarantees a frost-free environment.

Greenhouse plastic



Often thinking of plastic greenhouses, we mainly think of the large low tunnels that can be seen in the fields, where vegetables or vegetables are usually grown; this type of greenhouse is prepared by arranging metal arches, which are then covered with a sheet of plastic material of different thickness, depending on the climatic requirements. But with plastic materials, various different types of roofing can be prepared, to give the greenhouse the most disparate shapes and sizes. Today, even the large structures of nurseries or garden centers are made of plastic, because this material guarantees greater resistance to hail and similar external factors, and at the same time has a good duration, without costing excessive amounts when preparing the structure. But even the small structures with squared corners that can be placed in the garden, in the vegetable garden or on the terrace, made of metal profiles, covered with plastic film, or by polycarbonate sheets, simple or sandwich, for greater cold resistance.

Prepare a tunnel greenhouse



The tunnel structure is the simplest to make, because it does not require great precision, and it is possible to prepare large structures, using less coverage; generally in the garden or in the garden of this house these greenhouses are covered with polypropylene film: there are different thicknesses, in order to guarantee a suitable coverage in every Italian region, and in every season. It starts from the preparation of the internal structure, which can be made up of aluminum tubular, or even with bamboo, flexible and ecological. First position the poles that will act as spans, the arched ones to be clear, which must be fixed to the ground, simply by burying them, or with special fixing structures. Then the arches are tied together with the help of other poles, which must be positioned perpendicular to the arches, parallel to each other; to fix them to the arches you can use electrician's clamps, which are cheap and have a strong hold. If your greenhouse is very large, it may also need support poles inside the spans, perpendicular to the ground. Cover with the chosen film.

A plastic greenhouse on the terrace



Winter can be very cold in some Italian regions, and in many cases it is necessary to repair the plants on the terrace, because frost could ruin them beyond repair. Preparing a greenhouse for storing pots is not difficult, especially if we already have a small metal or plastic cabinet with open shelves. Using a long sheet of plastic film, we can easily cover the cabinet, within which we can place the vessels, without fear that frost will reach them. We proceed by cutting sections from the plastic film that can cover the side and back area of ​​the cabinet; this cover must be fixed above the cabinet, on the top shelf or on the sides if the shelf does not reach the maximum height. By using rubberized iron wire, or clamps, we can also tie the sheet to the rods that hold the shelves, avoiding excessively large holes in the plastic coating; these holes will keep the greenhouse well ventilated, avoiding condensation. With a second cloth we will form the front part, which must be fixed so that it can be removed to water the plants.
